  • Purpose: This plan (the first phase) will decarbonise domestic housing, commercial buildings, industry, transport and land use. Importantly, it gives direction to private businesses to invest in the transition.

  • Description: The plan outlines a timeline for reaching decarbonisation goals under a moderate, accelerated, and maximum scenario. It goes into detail about the current state of the net zero transition in the region, the opportunities from decarbonisation, and details on monitoring and reporting. The plan was rated top by the Climate Councils scorecard.

  • Conservative councillor/ local authority lead: Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands and Cllr Ian Courts, Environment and Energy Lead for the West Midlands Combined Authority.
