  • Purpose: Bicycles can be difficult to recycle, and many get dumped in rivers and lakes each year. By salvaging unwanted and discarded bicycles, this project helps to give bicycles a longer lease of life and encourages residents to cycle by providing a supply of secondhand bicycles.

  • Description: The council has provided a more sustainable alternative to scrapping bicycles and provided residents with a designated place to leave their unwanted bikes, the local recycling centre. Through collaboration with organisations including Active Cycles and Wymott Prison bike project, the council has developed a bike repair service which prevents bikes from being discarded and damaging the environment. Residents can buy repaired bikes at the recycling centre.
