North Yorkshire Council: Warm & Well in North Yorkshire

  • Location: North Yorkshire Council 

  • Purpose: The project was developed to provide support and advice to residents who cannot afford heating and are worried about bills. The aim is to help residents remain warm and safe in their homes. The projects look to implement measures to keep people warm including installing insulation to increase energy efficiency and also reduce emissions and wasted heat. 

  • Description: The project is a part of the North Yorkshire County Council Seasonal Health Strategy and is managed on behalf of the council by Citizens Advice.  Residents can be referred to the scheme or self refer and be given advice on energy deals, fuel debt, the warm home discount scheme and energy efficiency changes. The scheme also offers home visits for heating and insulation advice. The scheme is available to people with a low income, on benefits, physical or mental health issues, families with children and those worried about bills. 

  • Funding: The project received funding from the British Gas Energy Trust.
