Location: East Sussex (previously majority Conservative control, now Conservative minority)
Purpose: The grant allows the council to bring in private operators to build and manage charge points, as well as installing the infrastructure to support future demand. This will accelerate the delivery of charge points, enabling residents without access to off-street charging to switch to electric vehicles.
Description: The grant equalled £4.44 million and, following a tender process, a preferred bidder was identified to design, install, and operate the new chargepoints under a 15- year concession agreement. The company will contribute their own investment (estimated to be in excess of £27.5m) alongside the East Sussex LEVI funding and take full responsibility for operation, maintenance, and customer service. The proposal will deliver more than 2,400 sockets at around 500 locations across the county.
