Responding to the new Progress Report by the independent Climate Change Committee (CCC), the Director of the Conservative Environment Network Sam Hall commented:

"Ministers should take heart from the CCC's commendation of its net zero strategy and the huge progress on rolling out electric cars and renewables. But this report makes it clear that policy gaps remain. Now is the time to double down on delivery, not to back away and jeopardise green jobs and investments.

"Due to sky-high gas prices, we need more insulation and heat pumps in people's homes, and more sustainable practices and technologies on farms to reduce reliance on fossil fuel-based fertiliser. Filling the gaps the CCC has identified in the buildings and farming sectors will support immediate priorities like cutting the cost of living and improving food and energy security, while getting us on track to net zero."
