  • Location: Blaby District Council

  • Purpose: Blaby District Council launched the Community Green Grants scheme, enabling voluntary sector organisations to help lower emissions and enhance the natural environment for residents.

  • Description: The Community Green Grants scheme was launched in 2021, as part of the wider Community Grants Scheme, to help fund environmentally beneficial projects. Voluntary sector organisations eligible for the scheme apply for the grant. Organisations that have received funding have gone on to deliver projects from larger-scale energy efficiency improvements, such as installations of solar panels, to buying community litter-picking equipment.

  • Funding: £13,340 was awarded via Green Grants in 2021-22. The Green Grants funding came from Blaby District Council’s Community Grants budget.

  • Conservative councillor/ council lead: Cllr Les Phillimore
