Responding to the Carbon Budget 7 Delivery plan, Managing Director John Flesher said:
“Protecting the environment for our children and grandchildren is an important and deeply conservative goal. But Labour’s plans are flawed and counterproductive. They will fail to tackle exorbitant electricity bills, despite this being absolutely essential for our economy, cost of living, and climate action itself.
“By pursuing a statist, interventionist approach, Labour is willing to lock Britain into higher energy costs for decades. This will make the technologies of the future, like EVs, air conditioning, and data centres, more expensive to run. This, in turn, will prolong economic stagnation, while slowing electrification will deepen our reliance on imported fossil fuels and harm decarbonisation.
“Only a conservative environmentalist approach, which is laser-focused on bringing down electricity bills and unleashing the market while reducing emissions, can create an affordable, prosperous, and green future for Britain.”
