About the event
Litter and fly-tipping undermine people's pride in their local area and pollute our natural environment. The economic impact of this waste crime totals £1 billion a year, with an additional £11.6 million a year on tackling large-scale fly-tipping specifically. Many fly-tipping and littering incidents could be prevented, so the amount being spent is an astronomical waste of limited local authority resources. Not to mention, each piece of litter that does not go in the correct bin is a material resource that has been wasted rather than reused or recycled.
