About the event

Following the wars in Ukraine and Iran, and with allies like the US increasingly withdrawing from international agreements like the Paris Agreement - does soft power still matter? The UK has historically punched well above our weight with culture, diplomacy and global climate leadership.

But if soft power is no longer as important - what levers and mechanisms do we have to achieve goals like global stability, keeping climate change under control and upholding global democracy? And if the rules based international order is dead - then what happens next?

We're delighted to be joined by Neil Shastri-Hurst MP and Ian Mitchell, to discuss if soft power still matters.
