About the event

Will 20 mph zones worsen air quality as journeys take longer? Can we just plant trees along roadsides to absorb pollution produced by traffic? Will charging zones like ULEZ need to be introduced to get our air quality down to safer levels?

When it comes to air pollution, local authorities have a lot of powers and duties. But it has become abundantly clear that action on air pollution cannot be taken using a one-size-fits-all approach. Local authorities report that residents are concerned that changes to improve air quality can impact quality of life, ease and convenience of getting around, and question whether measures are actually cutting pollution at a time when council budgets are stretched.

Join the Conservative Environment Network (CEN) to hear from our panel of experts to cut through the jargon, answer your queries,  and discuss how conservatives can improve air quality.
